The story
It started with a Portuguese novel I couldn't put down.
I wanted to read books in Portuguese, but every tool I tried gave me clunky word-by-word translations that missed the meaning entirely. Idioms got butchered. Nuance disappeared. I was decoding text, not actually reading it.
I tried browser extensions, dictionary apps, parallel text readers — nothing worked the way I needed it to. I wanted to understand each sentence in context, see why the grammar worked the way it did, and remember the phrases that mattered. No tool did all of that.
So I built Ler E Aprender for myself. The name means “to read and to learn” in Portuguese, and that's exactly what it does: it lets you read real books in a foreign language and actually learn from them.
